Robert Radcliffe-Smith

Managing Partner

Robert joined Advent in 2002. He was previously with National Australia Investment Capital, NAB’s mid-market private equity division, for five years and before that he spent eight years with KPMG in corporate services, corporate recovery and corporate finance, where he was involved in numerous mergers and acquisitions (M&A), valuation and due diligence assignments for mid-market businesses. Robert became Managing Partner of Advent Partners in 2013.

Robert has successfully led all aspects of the investment cycle, including origination, due diligence, structuring, investment management and divestment. At Advent, he has been a director of businesses undergoing MBOs, growth and generational change. Robert is currently a director of Medtech, Compass, SILK Laser and Frosty Boy. He has also been involved in Advent’s investments in Trivantage, Tesa, UGM, Integral Diagnostics, Gourmet Garden and SCADAgroup (the winner of the 2010 AIC Best Mid-market Buyout Award).

Robert holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University, is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Fellow of FINSIA and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Mark Jago


Mark joined Advent in early 2009 and has led deal origination, due diligence, execution, structuring and investment management across a number of investments.

Mark is currently a director of Mandoe Media and Tribe Breweries. His other investment experience at Advent includes Wellness and Lifestyles, Gourmet Garden, JAG, Integral Diagnostics and GenesisCare (won 2018 Best Investment in the Last 25 years and 2013 AVCAL Michael Hirshorn Award). Mark previously held senior positions at ANZ Private Equity. His primary role was Portfolio Director focused on supporting the Victorian and South Australian portfolio and investments.

Mark also spent 10 years at Bain & Co and Unilever.  His experience includes performance improvement, strategy development and operational management across various corporates and countries including Australia, Korea and South Africa. Mark holds a First Class Honours degree in Engineering/Commerce from Monash University.

Brad Lynch


Brad joined Advent in 2013 having previously held senior positions at The Riverside Company, ANZ Banking Group and Ernst & Young. He has over 15 years principal investing experience across the Asia Pacific region with sector expertise in software, healthcare, education & training, and business & consumer services.

Brad is currently a director of Flintfox International, Mandoe Media, SILK Laser and Junior Adventures Group. His other investment experience includes investments in Wellness & Lifestyles, Simcro, Learning Seat, Sigma Coachair Group, Gentrack, Neller Payroll Services, Valuation Exchange and Homyped.

Brad holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance from FINSIA. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and has completed graduate programs with the Australian Restructuring, Insolvency & Turnaround Association and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Symon Vegter


Symon joined Advent in 2007. Since then he has been involved in all aspects of investments including origination, execution, management and realisation. He is currently a director of Frosty Boy and previously, he was a director of Orionstone, Integrated Packaging Group and Shape Group.

Symon worked at KPMG in M&A and restructuring services, advising corporate and private equity clients on a range of assignments and transactions across a broad range of sectors.

He holds a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University. He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. He is also a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Rob Hooke


Rob joined Advent in January 2013 and since then has been part of the investment teams in Compass, Tribe Breweries, Frosty Boy, Gourmet Garden, Integral Diagnostics, Tech Rentals and Junior Adventures Group. His role encompasses all elements of the investment cycle including origination, deal execution, portfolio management and realisation. Rob is currently a director of Tribe Breweries and Frosty Boy, and was previously a director of Junior Adventures Group.

Rob has over 10 years’ experience in mid-market private businesses in investment, advisory and senior management capacities. He was previously CFO/COO at a national privately owned FMCG business, and prior to that in the M&A, transaction services and private client divisions at PwC where he advised on various corporate and private equity engagements. Rob holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (Hons) from The University of Melbourne, is a qualified Chartered Accountant and graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Rupert Harrington


Rupert has been a senior executive in Private Equity since 1987, and all but two of those years have been spent at Advent. His extensive experience includes fund raising, portfolio development, and managing and selling investments. He has been a director of over 20 of Advent’s investees’ companies operating in manufacturing, services, health, technology and more, and covering all investment opportunities including expansion, MBO/MBI and generational change.

Rupert holds a Bachelor of Technology degree and a Masters of Business Management from Bradford University, along with a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance from Manchester University.

Kerry Kaplan

Chief Financial and Operating Officer

Kerry joined Advent in March 2019 as Chief Financial and Operating Officer, responsible for the financial, governance, risk management, administrative and day to day operations of the business, including HR, Marketing and IT.

Kerry has had extensive experience in both financial and operational management. She was Head of Finance and Operations at Rolex Australia for nine years and prior to that, worked for Thomson Reuters (London and Asia Pacific) as a Project Manager on various global restructuring and integration projects. The first five years of her career were at PwC in the audit division.

Kerry holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
